My first ever blog..!! The last time I wrote something important, it was using a paper and pen! Yes, that long ago. My writing skills are rusty and yet here I am, attempting to write a blog after decades of not having written anything more than a shopping list!! But why?! Why would I crawl out from beneath my rock and unleash my writing upon this poor unsuspecting world? Well, for one, my kids are now teenagers and don't listen to me, so I have to find a new audience to preach to! And suddenly in my 40's, I have this strong urge to do something different...prove myself to the world...challenge my boundaries...get out of my comfort zone...go sky diving...go bungee jumping off a cliff....wait, I think this is called a mid life crisis. So that's it! I'm facing a mid life crisis and my aching bones talked me into giving up my skydiving and other disastrous bone breaking ideas. My brain on the other hand sternly insisted I prove myself by writing a book, and after a lot of tough negotiations, we decided to start with a blog! So this is why I'm here.
Now that I have told everyone why I'm here, its time to write about something more interesting than the ramblings of a middle aged woman. I want to talk about the The Chakra goddesses. Sounds very exotic right? Now that I have your interest, I can go back to my sore bones and my scheming mind! Just kidding!!
So a year ago, as I was in the middle of contorting the above mentioned horrified protesting bones into unbelievable yoga positions, my wandering mind was thinking about food and the goodies I would eat to reward myself. And as my mind jumped from one topic to another, I was soon pondering upon some of the most spiritual question that have plagued philosophers for ages- who am I , what is my place in this universe, why am I here...ok, I think the last query was just me asking myself why I was in a painful yoga class when I clearly have no skill to do anything more arduous than standing still. But the others were purely philosophical inquiries. At that very moment, our lovely yoga instructor told the class we were all goddesses and warriors and I got this brilliant idea to paint something very spiritual and empowering. Now, I have been practicing Reiki for years, and that day in my yoga class, I was inspired to marry my love for Reiki with my passion for art! And my Chakra goddess series was born! And this is why I should exercise more!
Some of you might be thinking so what on earth are these chakra things this woman is talking about? I have been patiently reading her rot for the past 5 minutes and am still none the wiser! Get to the point already!
So "Chakras" originate from Sanskrit and mean "wheel". They are coils of energy centers within the human body, along the spine. There are seven chakras in all and each chakra controls a certain organ and influences its functioning. The chakra system impacts the overall physical, emotional and spiritual functioning of our body. Wow! Who knew huh?!
Since the imagination has no boundaries, I have painted these chakras as goddesses, and like the chakras, each goddess has her own attributes and qualities.
I do hope you enjoy my series as much as you have enjoyed reading this!! ;) I shall share more about each Chakra Goddess in future blogs...
Till then, laugh more, live more, love more, and do follow my art! I paint better than I write.. I promise!
